National Geographic Live is bringing A Pirate’s Life with Lisa Briggs to Calgary on Monday, November 2, 2026. The live presentation takes place at Jack Singer Concert Hall and explores the history of piracy through underwater archaeology, shipwreck discoveries, and historical research.

National Geographic Explorer Lisa Briggs is an underwater archaeologist, archaeological scientist, and documentary filmmaker. During the presentation, she will share discoveries about real pirates, including the infamous Blackbeard and his flagship, Queen Anne’s Revenge.

The presentation also explores piracy in the ancient Mediterranean, the history of China’s pirate queen, and the rules and traditions associated with pirates throughout history.

The event begins at 7:00 PM and includes a presentation followed by an audience Q&A. Tickets are available online through Werklund Centre.
