Berry Bliss in Britannia: A Scoop Above the Rest

Ice Cream Vilalge

Ice cream and light cardio? Win-win.

Yesterday, I had the absolute privilege of making a pilgrimage to Village Ice Cream, the one tucked away in Britannia, just off Elbow Drive. First off, what a prime location. It’s nestled in this charming little pocket of the city that somehow feels both cozy and upscale. Easy to get to, lots of parking, and right across the street is a great restaurant if you’re feeling ambitious with your appetite. But the real cherry on top? There’s a scenic walking path just steps away that winds past some truly gawk-worthy homes and leads to a serene little valley view. It’s the kind of spot that practically begs you to take your cone on a leisurely stroll. Ice cream and light cardio? Win-win.

Now let’s talk about the star of the show, the ice cream itself. Village never fails to impress. Every time I go, I’m hit with this wave of “Oh right, this is what good ice cream tastes like.” It’s ridiculously creamy, but not in a heavy way. No icy shards, no weird aftertaste, just smooth, velvety goodness that knows exactly what it is and nails it. It doesn’t need to be over the top or gimmicky. It’s confident in its simplicity and delivers pure joy with every lick, or bite, no judgment here.

Eating Ice Cream

This time around, I went with the Honeyberry in a waffle cone. An absolute classic. This is the OG Village flavour, the one that helped put them on the map, and for good reason. A beautiful blend of huckleberries and honeyberries, it’s like a sweet, fruity symphony that hits all the right notes. Every lick was a burst of berry goodness, a rich and juicy harmony of flavours that danced on my tongue like smooth jazz. Just when you think you’ve got the tune down, little pieces of fruit pop up like surprise solos, keeping things exciting. The waffle cone? Crispy, golden perfection, the ideal partner to this berry bombshell.

Honestly, it was one of those moments where everything just clicks. The location, the weather, the ice cream, the vibe, the company. If you haven’t been lately (or ever), do yourself a favour and go. Preferably soon. Preferably hungry. Because Village beckons and will not disappoint.
