Flames Win 1-0 as Wolf Sets Rookie Shutout Record

The Calgary Flames beat out the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 last night at the Saddledome and hotshot rookie goalie Dustin Wolf was the star of the show, making 26 saves to earn his third shutout of the season, which is a new franchise record for Flames rookie goalies (beating out the legendary Vernon).

The game’s lone goal came from Joel Farabee, who found the back in the second period. Farabee nailed a give-and-go with Mikael Backlund, releasing a wrister from the right face-off circle that slipped past Habs goalie Dobes, who also had a strong performance with 23 saves.

This victory extends the Flames’ point streak to four games (2-0-2) and propels them back into the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot. Something unexpected and worth celebrating! The Flames’ penalty kill was flawless, successfully defending against both of Montreal’s power-play opportunities going 2/2 on the night.

Next up, the Flames will continue their homestand, aiming to solidify their playoff position as the season progresses
