What’s good Calgary!! The last week of March is here already, isn’t that crazy??? We’ve had so much fun this month checking out so many events, and this week will be no different. That’s right, 5 days, 5 more things to get up to this week in Calgary.
This week we’ll be showcasing
- Day camps for kids
- Spicy salsa sets
- After hours at the zoo
- Flames hockey
- Legendary punk-rock act exhibit
PD Day Day Camps
To start us off, let’s look at something that’s great for the kids and easy on the parents. Heritage Park is rolling out its PD Day Camps, the perfect way for families to turn that school-free day into a memory-making adventure (and a well-earned break for the grown-ups). Designed for curious minds aged 6 to 11, these full-day programs are packed with action, history, and hands-on fun. From unearthing tales of the wild west to crafting like it’s 1885, each day promises a fresh, exciting experience to fire up young imaginations. Camps run from 9am to 4pm, with early drop-off available at 8am and pick-up until 5pm That’s what we call a win-win.

Wild After Hours: Giraffes and Zebras
Now, after the kids are thoroughly tuckered out from a full day of time-traveling and prairie exploring, it’s the parents’ turn. Treat yourselves to an evening escape at Wild After Hours, hosted by the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo. This 18+ adults-only event is your backstage pass to the savannah, focusing on the elegant lives of giraffes and zebras. Sip, dine, and learn as you enjoy a presentation accompanied by a full dinner service and bar. It’s classy, it’s wild, and it’s the perfect mid-week date night.

Spicy Salsa Dancing
But maybe you’re looking for something with a little more rhythm? We’ve got just the thing that’s spicy like SALSA! The Calgary International Salsa Congress is taking over the city with a few days of world-class workshops, dazzling performances, fierce competitions, and irresistible music. Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, it’s all here. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a two-left-feet enthusiast, this is your chance to soak in the magic and move to the beat. Events kick off Thursday, so grab those tickets and get ready to shake it!

Flames host the Kraken
Need to cool off after all that heat? Let’s bring on the ice. The Calgary Flames return home to take on the Seattle Kraken this Tuesday night at the Saddledome. Riding high after a historic road trip sweep of all three New York teams, a franchise first, the Flames are heating up just in time for a playoff push. Seattle, sitting outside the playoff picture, may be looking shaky, but nothing’s guaranteed at this point in the season. So rally with the C of Red and make your voice heard loud enough to re-ignite the Red Mile!

Flames host the Kraken
And finally, we’ve saved a true Canadian icon for last. SUM 41. Yes, the Sum 41. As the band gears up to take their final bow from touring, the National Music Centre is paying tribute with a brand-new exhibition opening March 26th. From rare memorabilia and behind-the-scenes stories to never-before-seen artifacts, this is a deep dive into the legacy of these Canadian Music Hall of Fame rockers. Whether you’ve been a fan since the “Fat Lip” days or just love a good piece of music history, Studio Bell is where you’ll want to be.

So there you have it, Calgary, five days, five amazing things to fill your calendar. From day camps and dance floors to hockey, giraffes, and punk rock legends, there’s truly something for everyone this week. Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to check in again Friday to see what the weekend has in store!
