First, we have Psychology of Sex, a Valentine’s workshop for couples to deepen emotional, physical, and spiritual connection through guided, inclusive, intimate exercises.
The Widowmaker, a show with a dark twist on Valentine’s Day with three captivating shows exploring love, suspense, and shocking plot twists, including murder!
Wild After Hours: In the Heat of the Night, delight your special someone with a symbolic adoption in their name, ready at your table upon arrival! Not only is this a thoughtful surprise for your guest, but your kind donation also helps support the care, feeding, and enrichment of the animals in their care.
Candle Making, because not much is more intimate than creating a candle with the one you love. Help set the mood by crafting your own custom candles, and use them for a little romance later in the evening.
Tchaikovsky in Love, Celebrate Valentine’s weekend with Calgary Philharmonic, experiencing Tchaikovsky’s passionate music, including “Romeo and Juliet” and “Violin Concerto.”
Or, if you’re flying solo this Valentine’s Day, we’ve got you covered too! Why not seize the opportunity to meet someone special at one of the many exciting speed dating events? There are a few big ones to be found at popular spots like Limber Hollow, Jameson’s, Velvet Room, Connections Café, Hitman’s Bar, and Two Rivers Distillery. After all, what better time to find a connection than on the day celebrating love itself? Whether you’re looking for a fun evening out or hoping to meet your future match, it’s the perfect chance to spark a new romance!
For a more standard approach to the weekend why not check out some festivals? This weekend Calgary features some great events, starting off with the Wildlife Festival, check out loads of animals and their habitats in this interactive experience for the whole family. Hosted at the Nurtrien Western Event Center this event will be happening all Family Day Weekend long! Get on down there, get your tickets, and explore the 3 main exhibits: Destination Africa, Depths of the Jungle, and Diversity of Living Things!
Our next festival on the list is Chinook Blast, an annual festival that takes place on Stephen Ave and breaches over to The Confluence Hotel. There there’s live ice carving, hot chocolate booths, beer gardens, live music performances, ice skating, night markets, art installations, and somehow even more! If you’re looking to get out of the house this weekend, we highly recommend that you get down there and check out this amazing festival.
Moving along the list of festivals we have Fishtival, happening THIS Saturday February 15th. What is Fishtival? Fishtival is a celebration containing unforgettable experiences, a day jam packed with memories to be made as you learn all about the wonders of fish in this icy experience. You can enjoy the Discovery Center, Aquariums, and Fish Hatchery, make use of the photo-ops, win fun prizes! If fish and the water is something you like then make sure to check out this fun blast!
Our final festival is certainly not least, Calgary’s annual winter music festival, the 10th annual Block Heater festival! Dance and sing the day away with this iconic festival hosted by the Calgary Folk Festival. No matter your preference there’s sure to be a show for you, with music shows in venues across the downtown. Headline shows from Buffalo Nichols, Basia Bulat, Sammy Volkov & Dana Wylie, Suuns, Sunglaciers, and Black Mountain! As well, a raffle to go see The Grateful Dead and John Mayer in Las Vegas, be sure to catch this annual tradition while you can!
Finally, if festivals aren’t your vibe but you’re fan of winter sports we have just the thing for you! The FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup! Qualifiers are happening today, February 14th during the day, with the finals taking place tomorrow night , February 15th, from 7-9pm and awards to follow. If you like skiing, freestyle, or just enjoying the cold with some friends then head on down to Winsport and check this out!
